Stay The Night

Hi Everyone,

Today I picked up a shade from the new O.P.I Mariah Carey Collection in Stay the Night, its also part of they're new textured nail polish Liquid Sand, I wasn't too sure whether to get it as there's been a lot of mixed reviews on it, but I gave in and got it and I love it!

Its a Fuchsia Pink Glitter in a Matte Black Polish, Whats different about these Liquid Sand polishes is that they dry to well basically the effect of sand and they do dry pretty quickly!

It is extremely hard to photograph and catch the glitter though, I'd say the texture of the polishes aren't exactly grainy, it does remind me a bit like a emery board feeling though, I don't mind it but this could be something that may put you off.

(Left - 2 Coats, Right - 1 Coat)

You do need to have more than one coat of this polish, i think 2 minimum, But make sure you apply the second coat after the first has completely dry otherwise it just turns into a grainy mess.

I really like this polish, I'm not too sure about the other three polishes in the range, so I may just stick with this one colour. I usually like the bright pinks so I think this is a good way for me to mix it up a bit, but still have that hint of pink. You can get this Polish at http://www.lenawhite.co.uk/store/mariah-carey-collection-1/stay-the-night for £11.50.

Have you tried any of the new Liquid Sands? I definitely recommend them.

(P.S. Sorry for the awful IPhone pictures, I'm looking into getting a better camera and sorry for the sad state of my thumbs in the last picture too!)

Drugstore Make Up Tag!

Hi Everyone,

Ive seen this tag a lot round YouTube and thought id give it a go, it was a lot more difficult than I expected, turns out I don't have as many Drugstore Products as I thought, but I got there in the end and this was the result...

 1. What is your favourite drugstore makeup brand overall?
Rimmel - I was debating between Rimmel and Revlon, But Rimmel had to win just slightly in the end, My favourite thing by Rimmel has to be there Foundations, I love the Match Perfection Foundation and The Wake Me Up foundation (Ive been through a few bottles), Then the newly Released Apocalips are a new favourite, Combined with the very popular lipsticks I keep meaning to pick some up from the Kate Moss range soon.

2. What are your favourite face, cheek and lip products?
Face - My favourite Face product must be the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, Its such a brilliant product for such a little price tag (£4.99), Its got amazing coverage and lasts quite well on my skin, A firm favourite.
Cheek - This Blush by Revlon scared me a bit when I first saw it, it was just so bright, but it comes out as such a natural flushed colour and isn't too bright for my off white skin tone either, you don't need to use a lot, so this tub should last quite a while and Ive used it loads. (£7.99 for I'm not sure how much product sorry)
Lip - Revlon Lip Butters, These caused quite a stir in the beauty world last year and I can see why, these have been a firm favourite ever since they were released, they're so pigmented yet moisturising on the lips, an they last quite well, another great product from Revlon. (£7.99)

3. Least favourite product?

It has to be the Bourjois Blusher Pots, I fell in love with the packaging and that's about it, they just have no pigment, or very little at least, I just don't get on with them very well sadly.

4. What is the best makeup bargain?
MUA Single Eye Shadows, They are amazing for only £1!! Plus in 30 different shades, The 3 below have to be my favourites, I must admit the Matte Shades in the range aren't as pigmented as the Pearl ones, But saying that my most used one is Matte! My favourites are shades 17, 24 and 28.

5. What is your favourite underdog product? (Something you love that often gets overlooked?)
It has to be Barry M Lip gloss Wands, I do have a lot of Limited edition ones, But my all time favourite has to be 11 Coral (far left) They aren't sticky and last well on the lips and they're a good price too at £4.49!

6. A drugstore product that is overpriced?
It has to be the Bourjois Foundations, I know they're raved about and they are good but I just don't think they're worth the £10-£12 price tag when you can get a better foundation by Rimmel for £8!

7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!
This has to be Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop Vs MAC Girl about Town, I did think that the new Apocalips in Apocaliptic was a close match, bu it is just slightly darker than Girl about Town (plus I'm not sure why its showing up Red here).
(Left to Right; Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop, MAC Girl about Town, Rimmel Apocalips in Apocaliptic)

8. Drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?
I must admit this isn't one of the big products with lots of hype, But the Plumping lip glosses do get talked a bit about in the beauty world, but its the best I could find out of my collection, I just find these way too sticky and the smell just makes me feel sick, Now I am a massive Soap and Glory fan so I am quite disappointed about this one.

Id love to see if you've done this tag, If not I Tag you to have a go!
So what do you think of the products Ive mentioned?
What are your favourites?

Rimmel Apocalips Review

Hi Everyone,

Today I have a review on the newly released Apocalips by Rimmel, There has been a lot of hype surrounding these products so when they were released on Wednesday I practically ran down to boots to grab a few!

They are currently on 3 for 2 in boots so after many swatches all over my hand, I finally picked up the shades Apocaliptic, Stellar and Celestial. They are like a hybrid between a lip gloss, but have the pigmentation of a lipstick, basically a liquid lipstick.

Apocaliptic is a Hot Pink with Blue undertones kinda shade, it is very bright, but I'm a big fan of these kinda shades in the summer (MAC Girl about Town is a big favourite).

Stellar isn't the shade I was originally going to go for but I thought why not try something new, I'm still not sure if that was the best idea as it does look slightly orange in some lights and I'm not sure I really suit that sort of shade. In the tube however it looks like a bright peachy pink, also with a bit of a blue undertone, again more of a shade for the summer I think.

However I did pick up a more wearable shade which is Celestial, Ive been wearing this everyday since I got it and I just Love it for this time of the year, Its a Dusky Nude Rose kind of shade, it reminds me a lot of MAC Creme Cup, but far more pigmented.

The applicator has a dip to it to hold more product, meaning that you don't have to keep dipping back into the tube for more product, I think this is a great idea and wish more lip glosses were like this. Not that you probably need to go and add more product with the pigmentation of these glosses.

Swatches (Top to Bottom) Stellar, Apocaliptic and Celestial.

I mostly love these lip glosses, they are extremely pigmented, last quite well on the lips, are fairly moisturising, plus when buffed in they can look more matte, then just add a second layer for gloss. The packaging is Fairly Chunky but Ive grown to love it. The only downside to this product is the smell, I'm tying so hard to learn to love it but I don't think that's ever going to Happen, But if you can put a side the smell then these are a brilliant new product from Rimmel to add to the collection.

Have you tried these? What did you think? Favourite shades?

January Glossybox

Hi Everyone,

Today's post is maybe if they're liked going to become a series of monthly Glossybox reviews/openings, today I'm doing a first impressions on January's box and my favourites from last months box!

If your new to Glossybox it is basically a monthly subscription service at £10 a month + P&P,  that sends you out 4-5 beauty samples, plus sometimes full sizes too (and sometimes some extra goodies) each month, its a great way to try out new things and beauty products you probably wouldn't pick up before.

This months box was themed on detoxing for the new year, I know my skin needs a detox after all those Christmas chocolates... oops...

This is what I found when I looked inside:

Firstly was a little extra from Glossybox, a Glossy Eye Mask, I actually find these annoy me in my sleep so I'm not sure if I'll use it, but its a very cute little extra to add to the box.

1) Monu Wrming Aromatic Mask: (£24.95 for 100ml) -  I'm rather excited about this, I have a few other Monu products and love them, with these cold months warming definitely sounds nice!  However this sample is for Normal/Combination skin and my skin is more on the dry side, so we'll see how this goes. It is a fairly good sample size at 30ml too.

2)  Jason Lips Bee Healthier: (£1.99 for 4.6g) - This lip Balm, I have quickly tried and I love it, it has a taste of mint choc chip ice cream! So I'm sure this will become a favourite once I get round to using it a lot more.

3) Premae Skincare Balance Rescue Face Tonique: (£27.50 for 50ml) - When I first opened the box I have to admit this didn't wow me, then I looked at the price for a full size and it did hurt just a little bit, Plus again this isn't for my skin type. I'll give it a shot though but I think I will stay faithful to my current Toner.

4) Elemis Fresh Skin Skin Glow Facial Exfoliator: (£12 for 100ml) - I have to admit I'm very lazy with exfoliation, so I am hoping this may make me step it up a bit, it is aimed at the teen - mid twenty age range. I think I have some high hopes for this product which may be a bad thing.

5) Duck Island Limited Body Lotion: (£24.95 for 2x250ml) - I love Body Lotions and Creams in the winter, The full size price does seem to make my purse cry a little bit, so I'm a bit scared to fall in love with it.  Again this product didn't wow me when I first opened the box, but I'll give it a go.

I have Two favourites from last months box which are the Sleek Ultra Mattes V2 Darks Palette and the Rituals Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk Body Cream. I own a few of these Rituals Body Creams and love them to bits, they smell amazing and leave the skin feeling so soft and moisturised yet not sticky like some do, I definitely recommend trying out the Rituals Brand!

I was actually Going to purchase the sleek palette as I had seen it in one of the Pixiwoo Sisters Videos and fell in love, Ive had a thing for Matte Colours this winter and I don't see it stopping anytime soon, so this palette in December was a match made in heaven. They're very pigmented and do last ok, on my oily eye lids with a base. Sleek Palettes are an amazing buy so I highly recommend any of their range of palettes too.

Overall this months Glossybox is a bit of a mixed one for me, I was slightly disappointed that its all skincare,  I'll be sure to report back in the next one (if you like these kind of posts!) about how I got on!

Let us know in the comments if your subscribed to any beauty boxes?, or if your subscribed to Glossybox and have this box? and what you think about them?

December Beauty Favourites

Hi Everyone,
Firstly Happy New Year!! Sorry for the lack of posts, between college assignments and Christmas I don't think me and Mary have had much time, but hopefully this will be the start of regular blogging. Here's my Monthly Beauty Favourites for December to start it off...
Base:
Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation Light Porcelain
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Fair
Real Techniques Buffing Brush

The Rimmel foundation Ive worn practically every day in December, sometimes adding a slightly higher coverage foundation to it when i need to but over all this foundation gives quite a good Light to Medium coverage, plus its one of the first drug store foundations Ive found in such a light shade!
Then with the lasting collection concealer I can get a pretty flawless base, I use this under my eyes, around my nose and on any blemishes I may have, it is pretty high coverage but it works brilliantly!
Both buffed in with my Buffing brush and it looks like a second skin, this brush hash just become a holy grail for me, I cant believe I lived without it for so long, I should of given into the hype much sooner!
Eyes:
Urban Decay Naked Palette

Ive re found my love for my Naked Palette, mostly using the shade Half Baked on my Lids, with a little bit of Buck through my crease. Then Creep to softly define my lashes and add a bit of liner. Ive also been using Naked on my brows as it is quite a good match, overall this has been a very multi purpose and useful palette for me last month.
Lips:
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream San Paulo

Then lastly on my lips Ive been loving raspberry red matte lips, and this lip cream goes with it perfectly, complementing that festive gold eye or just going with that natural Bridget Bardot style eye too, plus the matte finnish isnt too drying and lasts relly well on the lips!
Nails:
O.P.I Golden Eye

Ive been in love with this soooo much, I even had to have the tiny little minature, this is from the James Bond Skyfall collection, but it should still be around for a little while longer so snap one up fast! Its been perfect for the party season!

Swatches:

Left to Right: O.P.I Golden Eye, NYX San Paulo, Rimmel Light Porcelain, Collection Fair.
(sorry for the very blurry swatches, i didnt have enough time to get the pictures in a daylight light.)
So whats been your favourites for December? I may do a Monthly Favourites that arent Beauty related but im not sure yet, Hope you all had a Great Christmas and New Year! Look out for more blog posts coming soon...
