Tanya Burr Cosmetics: Soft Luxe

Hi Guys,

It's been almost a year since Tanya Burr relaunched her cosmetics line and the highly anticipated new collection has arrived and from the sounds of things, this is only just the start! It's a capsule collection, consisting mainly of matte products. Although the eye shadow palettes do include a selection of shimmer shades too.
The whole collection, from the actual product itself to the packaging, is beautiful and soft. The colours do vary from pastels and neutrals, to slightly more muted brights. The packaging is gorgeous and glitzy, with metallic accents and cute little polka dots. Plus to make the lip glosses and polishes distinctive, compared to the original bottles, they have been frosted over to give them a matte finish.
Tanya Burr Birthday Suit Palette - £6
There are two palettes in the collection, however I've only picked up Birthday Suit at the moment. Each palette contains four shadows, a mixture of matte, satin and shimmer finishes. The shades are made up of lovely dusty pinks and warm brownish tones. There are Marzipan; a subtle champagne, Toast; a pink toned soft brown, Soft Truffle; a warm rich brown and Cocoa Sugar; a shimmery brown with a slight silver glitter. Each shade blends beautifully and are highly pigmented, with little to no fall out.

The second palette is Enchanted Dream, which contains more pink and plum shades, as well as a really nice all over the lid cream shade, which would make a great base for the other shades.
Soft Luxe Matte Nail Polish - £4.99
The three nail polishes are all matte and really suit the Enchanted Dream palette. There is New Chapter; a grey toned lilac, Soft Pyjamas; a dusky pink and Pillow Talk; a muted berry. The formulation of these polishes means that they dry really quickly, which is great if you need a quick manicure, as you can really rely on these. The longevity of them isn't bad, they last for around three days before chipping. I think unless you apply a matte topcoat over the top of them, it might be difficult to increase the wear time.
Soft Luxe Lip Gloss - £5.99
The Soft Luxe Lip Glosses are the new matte liquid lipsticks on the market, there are currently three shades. Though I'm really hoping the colour range expands, as the formulation is lovely for the price. They're not sticky at all once applied and dry quickly too, without leaving the lips feeling dry either. The colours include Puppy Paws; a bubblegum pink, Martha Moo; a pink toned brown and Rhubarb & Custard; a brighter coral pink. Although they are all highly pigmented, Puppy Paws does go a little streaky on application unfortunately and I do find that the more you layer them, they don't sit quite right. But I've had no issues with Martha Moo and Rhubarb & Custard, as you only really need one layer of those.

I think applying Puppy Paws with a lip brush really helps, which is a shame as the applicator on the glosses is actually really good. It's a flat dofut applicator, which makes it really easy to line the lips and then fill them in quickly and effortlessly.
(Swatches: Left to Right - Cocoa Sugar, Soft Truffle, Toast, Marzipan, Puppy Paws, Martha Moo, Rhubarb & Custard)
Overall Martha Moo has stolen my heart and the Birthday Suit palette is fantastic, for a quick everyday eye. Though I think I'm going to have to give in and pick up the Enchanted Dreams palette, the plums are just too pretty to miss out on!

The collection is available from both Feel Unique and Superdrug.

Illamasqua Vanitas

Hi Guys,

Illamasqua have a new limited edition collection and it's dreamy. The Vanitas collection is a small collection, consisting of lipsticks in a matte finish and a gorgeous eye shadow palette too. The collection itself has been inspired by the still life paintings produced in the 17th century, with stunning tones of purple, roses and warm brown shades, in both lipstick and eyeshadow form.
Possibly one of the best bits of the whole collection, apart from the makeup itself of course. Is that the packaging for both the palette and the lipsticks are rose gold... I didn't think I could love an Illamasqua lipstick anymore and then they release these guys! As well as in store they have re released the Freak Parfum, alongside the collection for the displays. Which is one of my favourite scents and it suits the subtle darkness in the collection.
Rose Gold Palette - £44
The palette consists of twelve shades, a mixture between ten very popular current shades and two limited edition. As well as being a good mixture of matte and shimmer shades, I really think you always need a good mix of the two in a palette to get the most from it. So this is perfect to travel with, although the packaging itself is a very strong cardboard. Which is probably going to be like marmite, you either love it or hate it. I love it, as it's slim and compact. It's just like the Sculpting Palette they also do, I've travelled with that plenty of times and never had a problem, so I personally see no problem with this one either.

Just like all other Illamasqua shadows, these are easy to work with and highly pigmented. The shimmers are so soft and easy to use with little effort needed. The mattes make up nine of the twelve shades in the palette and they do not disappoint, with their pigmentation making a statement.

The shades themselves are, Slink; a champagne shimmer, Stealth; a creamy matte, Servant; a matte soft peach, Vernau; a yellow toned matte brown, Bronx; bronze shimmer, Wolf; a matte chocolate brown, Forgiveness; a matte chocolate plum, Fist; limited edition matte plum, Rim; limited edition dark coffee matte, Tango; shimmery copper, Terra; a burnt matte orange and Obsidian; a true matte black.
The lipsticks are made up of five shades, also including permanent and limited edition shades. The permanent shade is Shard; a deep pinky violet. Perfect for the autumn/winter months, it's probably one of my favourite deeper matte shades from Illamasqua.

The limited edition shades consist of a variation of colours, including one of my favourites, Born; a gorgeous nude. It originally launched as part of the Dusk collection last year and I meant to pick up more than one, (I never stock pile lipstick too) yet I never got around to it. But its back in lovely new rose gold packaging!

There is also Wanton; a lilac rose shade, back by very popular demand. I like to think of this one as a bit of a hybrid between Shard and Born, yet different, it's like the perfect in between shade. Then there is also Moth; a dark chocolatey brown and finally Resist; a pretty dusky rose.
Although not a part of the collection featured online, in-store Freak the original fragrance makes an appearance in the line up. So I thought I'd give it a little mention as it's a fragrance that deserves to be shouted about from the roof tops. It's a dark and exotic fragrance, with lots of floral notes. The top notes include, Black Davana, Opium Flower and Belladonna. Then transitioning into Poison Hemlock, Queen of the Night Blossom and Datura. Finally reaching the base notes of Oud, Frankincense and Myrrh. It's defientley like nothing else I've smelt before.
(Swatches: Slink, Stealth, Servant, Vernu, Bronx, Wolf, Forgiveness, Fist, Rim, Tango, Terra, Obsidian, Wanton, Born.)
So if you love Illamasqua's bestselling shadows and gorgeous matte lipsticks as much as I do, this collection is a must to take a good snoop at. But be quick, as it's limited edition and I cant see this rose gold packaging sticking around for long!
