Feeling Spendy... A Nars Haul

Hey,

I must apologise for another haul already! There are other posts coming, just as I'm currently housebound and bored, online shopping has become rather addictive! As if I needed any more encouragement to shop! Space NK also sent me quite a few lovely emails with discount codes and with Ndulge points to spend, I couldn't resist a treat.

I've had my eye on quite a few things from NARS for ages now, yet I never ever purchase them. So while I've not felt great, its kinda amazing how you can convince yourself to spend to cheer yourself up!

I can't say I've tried a huge range from NARS until now, I know the products that I love and I tend to stick with them and not try anything new. Which has led me to these repurchases, which I must admit its very rare repurchases happen unless they're in the form of an Illamasqua product.

My first repurchase was Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc. Which is an absolute nightmare to get a hold of, I feel like I stalked the website for months for this little guy. I grabbed the Foundation Pump too, as thats always out of stock as well. Sheer Glow has to be one of my top foundations, as it doesn't cling to any dry patches and offers a really good coverage without looking or feeling heavy in the skin. Plus it comes in a pale enough shade for me, woohoo!

I love the Light Reflecting Powder to set my makeup as its so finely milled. However I have it in the loose form and thats just a bit horrible to travel with. So I've finally bitten the bullet and invested in a pressed version, so my makeup bag no longer looks like a powder explosion.

Laguna Bronzer is one of those cult NARS products. It's a bronzer I was scared of due to being so pale. However I was wrong, it doesn't leave me looking like I've been tangoed or muddy either. You can contour with it as its matte, but I just think it adds a lovely warmth to the skin. It was also a bit of a panic buy, as they've just launched the Sun Diffusing Bronzers as well. That range also includes a Laguna, so hopefully this one is staying put!

When it comes to trying something new, I've still stuck with products I know I love. I haven't really been as adventurous as I thought... I've gone for the classics such as Cruella Velvet Matte Lip Pencil. This stunning blue toned red has to be one of NARS' best sellers by far.

I remember seeing Ingrid or Miss Glamorazzi as she used to be known, use the Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base years ago. It's been on the wish list ever since, but as I'm so loyal to my trusty MAC Paint Pots, I've never purchased it. I'm looking forward to giving it a go though as I go through a love hate relationship with the Urban Decay Primer Potion.

I actually picked up the Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in the shade; Iraklion, from TK Maxx. Just as a quick no fuss eyeshadow when I'm in a hurry or as a base for other shadows. They're still available from NARS, but I cant really find them anywhere else. Definitely pop into TK Maxx though as it was filled to the brim with NARS when I went in.

Finally I got the well loved Eye Shadow Duo in Isolde, I blame Zoella for this one. I think it'll be perfect for the Autumn Winter months, with its warm copper tone. Plus was it is slightly on the orange side, It looks great on blue eyes. I was also blown away by how creamy and pigmented the texture of them is as well!
(Swatches: Left to Right - Iraklion, Cruella, Isolde, Laguna (Blended), Laguna)
Oh and before I forget, a little Duo Pencil Sharpener made It's way to my basket too. I'm the queen of losing sharpeners, I swear they must run off with the bobby pins!

Illamasqua Summer Sale Haul

Hey,

Recently Illamasqua had their annual summer sale and of course, me being me, I couldn't say no. It was absolutely jam packed full of amazing goodies though. Which are really hard to resist, so I may go gotten ever so slightly carried away to say the least...

Like usual with an Illamasqua Sale, there was up to 70% off and at least 50%. Plus then every so often they add a whole new drop of goodness to the line up, so I did end up making something like four orders overall for this lot, oops! Thank goodness for free delivery!
Firstly I picked up the Gel Colour in Charm, as I already have the contour version of this in the shade Silhouette and it's one of my all time favourite Illamasqua products. As they're a gel consistency, even though it looks like a terrifyingly bright neon orange. It applies to the skin in such a natural subtle flush of colour, you can see the skin right through it. You can either build it up or keep it light and sheer, plus it can also be used on the eyes and lips.

I also grabbed two lipsticks that I've been eyeing up for years and yet never actually got around to purchasing. They are Climax; a rosy matte nude and the Glamore Lipstick in Buff; which is a cool brown with a satin finish. I must admit Buff is a tad darker than I was expecting it to be. I've always loved it on other people, however when I think about it they always have gorgeous luscious tans. Unlike little old me and my MAC NW10 complexion, so maybe I can still rock it with a bit of bronzer!

I love the Sketch Sticks, I've got two from the Hypnotica Collection already. They are just such versatile products, you can use them for pretty much anything, from body art to eye shadow. Plus they don't take up too much room in your makeup bag. They have a really lovely creamy consistency that stays put. Shades such as Trance (orange) and Trip (green), make great colour correctors. A little bit of Free (pink) is a very pretty blush. Then its always handy to have a product like Haze (black) and a fun shade such as Higher (yellow).

Another product I went a bit nuts over, were the single shadows. They were reduced down to something like £5 each. I couldn't say no! Especially when there were so many of their popular shades included in the selection. I would highly recommend adding Illamasqua shadows to your stash. They are matte shades, pack a real punch in terms of pigment, as they always do! I love them as they're such a dream to work with, they blend so easily and they just do what you want. So I grabbed Incubus; a dark grey, this one is great at Halloween for skulls by the way! Vernau; a warm ochre brown, Justify; a cool pale sand, Wolf; a rich chocolate brown, Truth; a cool almost purple toned brown and I couldn't not pick up a fun bright colour like Apex; which is an orange toned red, it is Illamasqua after all.

Lastly I added a few cult Illamasqua products into the mix, such as Android Pure Pigment. Which is basically just the most magical black pigment with a silver shimmer running through it. Again another great one at Halloween for a glam skull look. Or even just pressed into some liner or onto a smoky eye.

I couldn't believe it when I spotted Androgen Cream Pigment in the sale. The Cream Pigments are another great one for colour correcting, I highly recommend adding these to your kit if you're a makeup artist. The peachy pink tone of Androgen is great for under the eye, to tackle any stubborn dark circles. Due to its waxy texture it won't be disturbed by any makeup you put on top of it either. However it does also make a really great blusher or an eyeshadow base too.

Finally I thought I would try the Bronzer Duo in Glint/Solar. Bronzer isn't really a product I use too much of. It is one however that I want to get into the habit of using more often, these two are both more of a warm summer glow kinda product though. Not really suitable if you're looking for a matte bronzer instead, but I'm still looking forward to giving them a good go!
(Swatches: Left to Right - Charm, Climax, Buff, Vernau, Wolf, Higher, Free, Trance, Trip and Haze)
(Swatches: Left to Right - Solar, Glint, Truth, Justify, Incubus, Apex, Androgen, Android)

I cant wait to have a good play about with everything and hopefully maybe get some looks up too? However now I do wish I was going to a festival to get some good work out of those sketch sticks!

A Fresh Start

Hey,

I've been putting off writing this post for days, or had several failed attempts at writing it already. Which is really frustrating as it's something I've wanted to write ever since I started Mallow Beauty. However I've never had the guts to do it, but now after the year I've had, I want to make a change.

Which is why I'm relaunching my blog, as Editing Eloise. A place that's no longer just really about beauty, I want to discuss more than that, I want to discuss whatever I feel like discussing. Although lets face it, there still be a hell of a lot of beauty! A fresh start for the blog and me, as it's a step towards more confidence.

I've missed blogging so much and I cant believe this is actually my first post of 2017! I mean I've had a year and a half of Illamasqua hauling to catch up on, haha! I feel like there's so much to cay and I don't even know where to begin. This new chapter in blogging is going to be more personal. I want to actually put more personality into Editing Eloise, which I feel Mallow Beauty lacked.

The main thing that's spurred me onto do this is actually my health. I've not been feeling fantastic since January this year, which is why among other reasons, I haven't blogged in so long! Then last month I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. I've also kinda mentioned in the past on here that I also suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as well. But in a way I've always been scared of what people would think of me If I talked about it on here. However they're both things I'd like to discuss more of and just health related topics. I don't know if my experiences can help anyone else at all. But it feels good just to have somewhere for it all to spill out, which I think is what's so amazing about blogging.

So before I get carried away, that is something coming to the new and hopefully improved Editing Eloise. (I hope you like it!) Please let me know If there's anything you'd like me to discuss however, as I must admit I'm still terrified of sharing more than my favourite lipsticks for once, so I might need the occasional boot up the bum to get me to stick to my word! Although it's sad to say goodbye to Mallow Beauty, here's to more beauty, fashion, food, home decor, lifestyle and whatever else takes my fancy coming in the future!
