Spring Preening with Glossybox April

Hi Guys,

I've missed out on blogging the last few months of Glossybox offerings, I cant say last month however was a winner in my eyes. Glossybox have been bringing out a streak of brilliant boxes and I'm just starting to feel like its possibly starting to head down hill. However there's always going to be boxes I love and others don't and vice versa.
This month more specifically is themed Spring Preening, with new additions for your makeup bag heading into Spring Summer. As well as skincare, nail care and body art pieces, for a pamper or to get ready for the warmer weather and parties/festivals to come.
*POSSIBLE SPOILER* One thing that has really thrown me is the fact that I got an email from Glossybox to pick a Revlon Mascara for my next box, so I kind of presumed it was going to be in this one. However I'm guessing it's probably going to be in next months instead... I hope!
Essence Mosaic Compact Powder in - £3
I must admit this product really confuses me, to say its the lightest shade in a compact powder, I would really say its more of a bronzer. After looking into it more, it is in fact a bronzer, which means the name just confuses me even more, but oh well! It definitely looks extremely pretty in the pan and has a slight shimmer to it, so I think it's definitely more of a natural glow bronzer than a defining contour type product.

STYLondon Temporary Henna Tattoo's - £5.99
Although these Tattoo's are absolutely gorgeous, I don't have any idea when I'll actually get round to using them...

The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil - £28
This was one product I knew was going to be in the box as it was on the little sheet in the last box, however I was a bit disappointed when I saw the size of the sample. It contains 7ml of product, so compared to the full size that contains 30ml of product, this overall comes to £6.53. Although disappointed I'm looking forward to trying it, as I've heard a lot about the new Body Shop range. Plus  it promises hydrated and smoothed skin after use, so I shall definitely give that a go!

Studio 10 Brow Lift Perfecting Liner - £22
This eyebrow pencil claims to be a one shade suits all pencil, I think this probably suits the highlighter more than the actually brow shade itself. The highlight has a slight shimmer to it but is really creamy, as are both sides of the pencil, which makes it easier to buff out. I think the brow pencil is a bit too ashy for certain hair colours, but It could be quite universal. Studio 10 will also donate to Look Good Feel Better, with every pencil sold too.

Leighton Denny Expert Nails Miracle Mist - £12
This looks like a rushed manicure saviour in a bottle. Why is it always that you think of a million things to do straight after painting your nails? I've tried the quick dry drops before but found the bottle actually evaporated so quickly I think I only got 4 uses out of it. So the fact this ones a spray has my hopes up that it won't be a repeat of last time.
(Swatches: Left to Right - Essence Mosaic Compact Powder & Studio 10 Brow Lift Perfecting Liner)
I cant say I've fallen head over heels in love with this box, I think for me I'm just mostly excited to use the Leighton Denny Mist. Although I'll probably use everything eventually, I'm usually just quite excited to get stuck in and try everything. Where as with this one sadly It's one I could take or leave...

A Lush Top Up

Hi Guys,

I kind of feel like I should just pitch a tent inside my local Lush store after the amount of trips I make. However I have been really good recently and made a very large dent in the backlog of limited edition collections and bits and pieces I've amounted from Lush. So I thought I'd do something quite rare for me and go and buy some pieces that are actually available all year round.
When I really thought about it, I'm always so excited over a new collection I forget to pick up the classics. So what better way to reward myself for using up my Limited Edition Lush stuff (Does anyone else find it incredibly hard to us up that last Luxury Lush Pud? Just me?), than to reward myself with new Lush stuff right?!
One that actually shares the same sent with Luxury Lush Pud is Twilight - £3.50. This little guy is a godsend when you cant sleep, the lavender helps me drift off into the land of the nod in no time. Plus it looks so pretty in the bath as it swirls about leaving a baby blue and pink trail behind it.

Then theres the two I fell in love with after my trip to Lush Oxford Street; Yoga Bomb - £3.95. Although I find it quite citrusy, it's just really relaxing too, I think its probably something to do with how amazing it looks when it turns the water orange, purple and green. Then there's Frozen - £3.95, a rose and grapefruit scent, that foams up in the water with a good handful of silver shimmer too.

I also grabbed Avobath - £3.50 , which I have actually never tried before. I actually have no idea why, I think I just always forgot about it as it doesn't really jump out at me. I really wish I had picked it up before though, it smells incredible, lovely and fruity with a mango and lemon like scent.
I couldn't help myself when the Flowering Tea Reusable Bubble Bar - £4.95 came back. Although it's permanent in Lush Oxford Street it made a flying visit to all stores for Mothers Day, if you get a chance to pop along to Oxford Street, grab one of these. The floral scent is so calming and it's just such a fun idea too.

One I missed out on and kicked myself for not picking up at Oxford Street was Big Bang - £3.75. I have no idea how I missed it, I have a funny feeling it may of been out of stock. But I'm so glad its now available in all of the stores, it's got such a refreshing zesty scent from the grapefruit and tangerine. Plus it looks gorgeous with it's deep blue bath water and bubbles, as well as the bath melt sat on top to moisturise.

Lastly I picked up You've Been Mangoed - £2, mainly because it shares it's scent with Avobath. They're such a treat for the price especially and they are so moisturising. They do take quite a bit of time to melt, but I find it quite relaxing, plus the lemon is really uplifting.

Illamasqua Metamorph

Hi Guys,

The newest collection from Illamasqua, Metamorph, launched yesterday for Spring and they're definitely onto a winner with this one. It's filled with soft hues and brand new ranges for Illamasqua, subtle but I think this collection overall really makes an impact.
The collection includes a new mascara, Masquara Gain - £20, it's volumising, lengthening and defines the lashes. But what I really love about it, is that it naturally tints the lashes due to an ingredient included from walnut. Having very blonde lashes myself it's a pain when I forget to put on my mascara, so the idea of having a mascara that tints my lashes for me is like the best thing since sliced bread. However I was so excited over the rest of the collection, that I forgot to pick one up for myself, so I'm going to do a dedicated post to the Illamasqua Masquara's.

There are also the two new Beyond Powders - £32, which look like two of the prettiest highlighters ever. Sadly though they haven't yet been released and will be launching on the 21st of April.
The Vital Palette is made up of four of the most gorgeous subtle matte shades I have ever laid my eyes on. It includes Bubbles a warm peach, Envision a warm brown, Drop a deep brown and Trace a cool grey. Illamasqua shadows are never a disappointment when it comes to pigmentation, they blend beautifully too and are just effortless. There's so many different combinations you could make from this palette and It easily adds definition to the eye.

Brow Build - £18.50
Now this has actually shocked me, in a good way! To a point where I sat at the mirror for half an hour last night staring at my new and improved brows. I have never been let down by an illamasqua product and it's not that I was expecting to be let down, but me and brow gels don't get on. For the simple reason of there was once a brow incident that resulted in me losing half of one. So personally I never found a brow gel to thicken up my brows enough. However Brow Build is the most incredible brow gel I have ever tried, not only did it add colour to my brows but I've never seen them so thick. The gel includes little brush on fibres which helps to thicken up the brows and fill in any sparse areas.  It's available in four shades; Amplify a deep slate grey, Thrive a medium brown, Flow a warm brown and Rise a soft beige. I personally have Thrive as its practically the equivalent of Thunder in the Brow Cake and Strike in the Precision Brow Gel.
 Nail Veil - £14.50
The Nail Veils are a new concept for Illamasqua, they're very sheer polishes, as you can probably tell from the swatch, it gives such a subtle hint of colour. They're also unlike any other polishes Illamasqua have released because they have been formulated to condition the nails and protect them. It also contains anti oxidants to prevent any staining to the nails, there's two shades available which are Breathe the pale pink and Bamboo a pale peach.
I have on the Thrive Brow Build, as well as the Vital Palette. I popped the shade Envision all over the lid, with Drop through the crease and Bubbles in the inner corner. I also ran a little bit of Trace under my lashes as well. I also have on Skin Base Foundation, Glamore Lipstick in Rosepout, Powder Blush in Unrequited and the Gel Sculpt in Silhouette.
(Swatches: Left to Right - Thrive, Bubbles, Envision, Drop and Trace)
This is usually the part where I recommend one product from the collection that you really need to check out, but I honestly cant decide. It's one of those ones that you really need to have a snoop through it all, it's definitely won my heart.

My March Favourites

Hi Guys,

I have to admit, that although I'm calling this post my March Favourites, it's a bit more of an accumulative of the past three months favourites. But that just doesn't seem to have the same ring to it for a title haha. Looking back though, as I haven't really been blogging, I haven't really been mixing up my makeup and things like that either. So I think it's safe to say that I have also been a fan of these products and non beauty favourites for the whole of March too!
There are quite a few products I was going to include in this, but I'm saving them for next month as I've only been loving them for a few days! So I apologise in advance for how jam packed next months favourites may end up...
Firstly I have been loving the Illamasqua Precision Gel in Infinity, this is the only gel liner I use and actually pretty much the only liner I use full stop. It's the most pigmented liner I have tried and I'm pretty sure it's the darkest one on the market. I've been loving my wings and flicks this month and I couldn't of done it without this, it glides on so effortlessly and takes the stress out of liner for me. Which is always a huge relief!

I have been loving the Laura Mercier Plumping Gloss in Rose Flush because of how natural it looks as an everyday lip. But even though its a gloss it has an amazing amount of staying power! I can apply this quickly and get a tint of colour when I'm in a rush and not have to worry about it fading a few minutes later.

Nars Laguna Bronzer has found its way back into my heart again, I had been using another bronzer and hit pan, so it was panic stations when I thought I was out of bronzer. However how I managed to forget about Laguna I dont know, because it is such an amazing bronzer I would of thought its been engraved into my brain. Although I really am quite pale, Laguna surprisingly really works, I was worried initially that it would be quite warm on me, but it blends so well and just adds a subtle glow and detention to the face.
I was a bit unsure about the Smashbox Primer Water, just because I really wondered if it really worked. But curiosity got the better of me and I finally bit the bullet and purchased it and now to be honest I regret not getting it sooner. It is amazing! It's such a quick and easy way to apply primer and it actually prolongs the wear time of my foundation. I'm going to do a full review of this soon as I think I've completely fallen in love. But if there's one thing I say to run out and try straight away it's this!

Perfume is one thing that I struggle to buy for myself, I don't know why, I just do. But I am a huge fan of the My Burberry scent and I always have a sniff of the other offerings Burberry has, yet never purchase them. However at the start of the year I decided to invest (I basically say invest to try and make the purchases justified) in the Burberry perfumes I've been lusting over for the past few years. In my defence they were better than half price! One of the one's I picked up is Burberry Brit Rhythm and it's the one I seem to be reaching for the most, its a lovely every day scent, clean and floral almost.
@theohurts and @adamhurts were incredible last night, easily the best gig I've ever been to, wish it had't ended!

Possibly my all time favourite of the entire year so far was getting to go to the Hurts Surrender Tour. I've been a fan of Hurts for years now, but I only just got to see them live (and properly fan girl meeting them after the show! I'd say I'm sorry but I'm not... haha) back in February. I can easily say that it was by far the best Gig I have ever been to and I'm still have withdrawals now. I've actually based my final Graded Unit on the new album and I don't think I've ever been so excited for a piece of work in my life!

Which I was also wondering if documenting my experience in studying Makeup Artistry is something you'd like to see? I've been toying with the idea for quite some time but never seem to actually do it, so let me know!

A very exciting part of my studies was entering into the Illamasqua Student Competition, which I did a bit of a blog post on here. But I made it into the final 4, which is just insane and thank you to everyone who voted for me! Sadly I didn't win, but the other entries were fantastic and I'm just so pleased to of even been recognised by Illamasqua. for my work Which if you're a regular reader you'll know I'm a teeny bit obsessed with Illamasqua haha...
