GlossyBox April Iconic Hollywood

Hi Guys,

My April GlossyBox finally hit my door step the other day after seeing all the hype gathering up about the box online, its safe to say I was excited! This months box is classed as a Collectors Edition, with its beautifully designed box and classic theme.
The theme is Iconic Glamour and was based around four very iconic ladies. As soon as the designs for the box were released, everyone got very excited. It comes in four colour options this month, blue, pink, yellow and green. Each colour represented an icon; Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Hayworth and Elizabeth Taylor. Although each box still has Marilyn on the front.
Inside the lid of the box, is a quote from the Lady the box is themed around. I got the blue box, which is actually probably the one I liked the least due to the colour! Though I still loved Rita Hayworth and her quote!

I must admit, although I can see the theme of the products in the box. Just on first glance I wasn't very won over at all. After being so excited when I saw the spoiler in last months box about the Lord & Berry Pencil. Plus seeing all the lovely colours and designs, once I actually opened it, it just wasn't wowing me. Especially after the last few months have been fantastic!
Pop Beauty Kajal Pencil in Sooty Black - £6.50
This is one of my favourites in the box, just as it is useful. Im always looking out for a black pencil to use on my waterline, I also like the smudger on the end. Im going to try out more smudged pencil liner, as I really don't like using pencil for my liner. Im such a gel girl! It's a pigmented product and goes on reasonably softly too. The only downside, I cant find it available in the UK!

Astral Original Face & Body Moisturiser - £3.89 for 200ml
This Im not so crazy about, Ive seen it for years in boots stores and its not something I'd go and pick up! It feels like a nice product when Ive tested it on my hands, I don't think its something I'd use on my face. I find it has a really strong baby powder smell too. Im intrigued to see how well it maybe takes off makeup, as it lists itself at being able to.

Lord & Berry Lip Crayon in Kiss - £10
This is the only product I knew was included in the box and I was very excited as I love a good red! Although now once I have it, Im a little disappointed as its an orange toned red, which I don't go for as I find I suit blue toned reds so much more. It's something I'll still use as I love that its matte and really pigmented. Just not something I'll reach for straight away.

IDC Luxury Body Lotion in Warm Lavender - £3.59 for 200ml
I like the smell of Lavender and I find it helps me sleep. So the only use I think this will have is to be used after a Lush Twilight bath before bed. Its not a Body Lotion I'd immediately reach for at all, but Its not a bad product.

Color Club Polish in Barley There - £4.10 for 15ml
This may just be my favourite product, I really quite like Color Club polishes after trying a couple from previous boxes. Im always on the hunt for a nice nude polish that is still quite sheer, something that would be nice as a french manicure colour. I think this shade is something I'll reach for quite a lot, more so than previous shades I've tried.
(Swatches: Left to Right - Sooty Black & Kiss)

Overall Ive got to say Im a little underwhelmed by this box, even though there is three full size products, which is great! The box value still only works out to around £24, which isn't the best value for money box Ive ever had from GlossyBox. The products I'll still use up, but I think I prefer the make up and nail pieces in the box this month.

  2. The nail polish looks like a lovely colour! It's a shame you weren't that impressed with the products but I feel like beauty boxes are always going to have good months and bad months!
