June Favourites

Hi Guys,

Ive not got many favourites this month, just as they mainly stayed the same as last month's, so there wasn't too much point in including them this month. I finished my first year of my HND at the start of June so Ive not been a huge makeup wearer these past few weeks.
Though when I have been wearing it, Ive been enjoying quite dewy skin and lots of highlight and contour. Just quite a natural but bronzy eye too, basically I think my favourite look this month has been quite a Summer Bronze Goddess style of look.
Two products Ive loved this month for dewy skin but also bronzed eyes have been the Illamasqua Pure Pigment's. Ive liked using the shade Ore, a almost gold bronze shade, all over the the eyelid, but keeping it really intense in the centre. But Ive also paired that with Furore, the champagne shade, in the inner corner as it just brightens the eye up so much.

What I love about Furore though is that it makes the most incredible highlight, especially with the whole new (but not so new) strobing trend going around. You get the most amazing dewy glow to the skin if you dust this over the tops of the cheekbones, chin, nose and cupids bow. You can really intensify it too and just keep adding layers.
Also for highlighting and contouring I've fallen in love with the Illamasqua Sculpting Palette in Heliopolis & Lumos, it is absolutely perfect for my pale skin. I really find it difficult to find a shade that doesn't make me look like I've got tangerine stripes down my face from contouring. Heliopolis is perfect, although it is a little warm, it doesn't look orange on its own. It works really well with the Gel Sculpt stick to add some warmth to the skin too and its completely matte!

Lumos makes a beautiful subtle highlighter too, which you can of course build up just like Furore. But if Ive wanted a serious glow, pairing the two together gives the ultimate highlight! They compliment each other so well and sit on the skin without looking caked on and powdery.

To apply the Sculpting Palette, my new favourite brush has to be the Real Techniques Setting Brush. I have used it for setting my under eye concealer which I love it for too. But its the perfect size just to really pin point the area you want to contour and not add too much at once. I'd much rather build up my contour with a smaller brush, than put way too much on. Its also the perfect size to add highlight all over the face too, especially the cheekbones.

My Nars Creamy Concealer has probably become my go to concealer, I had completely forgotten about it after leaving it in a handbag. How I could forget about it though I don't know! It works so well to create that dewy finish to the skin as its radiant, it has fantastic coverage and I only use a little bit from the applicator onto the back of my hand. To do both under eyes, around the nose and any blemishes I might have. I think I definitely prefer it under the eye as it doesn't crease and sits quite comfortably, though it works else where too and has the longevity too.
Lastly Music wise I am obsessed with John Newman, especially his new single Come and Get It. I don't know what I love the most about this, the overall video, John, the actual song or the beautiful makeup on his co-star. I am desperate for this song to actually come out on iTunes now as Ive had it on repeat on Youtube for weeks!
(Swatches: Left to Right - Furore, Ore, Lumos, Heliopolis)
I think I already have quite a few favourites in the pipeline for July already, which I didnt want to include in this as Ive not been using them for long enough. But my few favourites this month are definitely going to be outnumbered in July!

  3. I've never actually purchased anything from Illamasqua, i still trying to find my niche with beauty but the highlighting and contouring palette looks great, especially if it's good for pale skin, like i have. Also the Illamasqua pure pigments in the shade Ore, such a stunning gold kind of colour!

  6. This is a great post! I really want to try the NARS concealer when my MAC one runs out and now I want the setting brush too! Could you use it for applying concealer or just setting it?
