My Winter Makeup Essentials!

Hi Guys,

These bits are my make up essentials in winter, probably a bit predictable, but who doesn't love a red lip and gold eye coming up to Christmas! I usually stick to certain favourites every year but this year Ive descovered quite a few new additions to the line up.

PREP
One of my favourite lip balms recently has been the Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm, I don't usually find products I repurchase straight away but when I lost mine, I had to run back and get another. It's a lot thicker than my other favourite Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream. I prefer to use it during the night and when I wake up, especially during these colder months as its very hydrating!

Hydra Viel, My holy grail primer! I have really dry skin throughout the year and even more so in the winter. This is such a fantastic product as its Illamasqua's first foray into skincare but not skincare if that makes any sense at all haha. Its lightweight on the skin and gives it such a hydration hit. my foundation goes on so much easier and gives the loveliest finish with this underneath.
EYE
Half Baked from the original Urban Decay Naked Palette, is my all time favourite typical gold shadow shade. Its a very traditional yellow gold, the naked palette is fantastic for christmas time as it also has lovely berry shades such as Toasted and Hustle. So if you're not rocking the berry lip you can rock the berry eye instead!

Metallic's are big this season, after being on Holly Fulton's Catwalk Show. The these Metal Foil eye shades from Make Up Revolution are great for this look. You can wear them in so many ways, all over the lid or even as an eyeliner? They're creamy and once blended out they're like little pots of sparkle! I especially love this bronze shade, the rose gold is beautiful too.
LIP
I have to admit I'm not sure what I prefer the most, a glossy red lip or a matte one. So both of these products are extremely similar in colour but not in finish. First up is the ever so popular MAC Lipstick in Russian Red, even though this is a matte lipstick, I dont find it drying on the lips which is always horrible especially when its colder. Its a very comfortable lipstick to wear and lasts extremely well on the lips.

My glossy option has to be Tanya Burr's Lipgloss in Vampire Kiss, of course I do love this because of the name. But its such a pigmented gloss, non sticky and ever so glossy! Its a blue toned red, which I always prefer as I find they suit me a lot better than the orange toned ones. Plus it tastes great too, strawberry laces yum!
(Swatches - Top to Bottom: Half Baked, Bronze, Russian Red and Vampire Kiss)

I can see myself rocking this combo a lot in the next few weeks, plus a bit of added glitter for christmas I think! Let me know what your favourite lipsticks are for this winter too because Im always on the hunt for new ones!
